Choose your setup

Every accepted record needs a destination. Your project can use ReportPlane-managed storage when the plan supports it, or connect a supported warehouse that you own.

Managed warehouse#

A managed warehouse reduces setup work. ReportPlane operates the storage connection and applies managed ingest and query quotas from your plan.

Choose it when:

• you want the shortest path to production;
• you do not need to operate warehouse credentials;
• your data residency and governance requirements allow managed storage;
• your expected usage fits the plan.

The exact capacity and quota depend on the workspace subscription. Check Usage & Cost and Workspace limits in the console.

Customer-owned warehouse#

A customer-owned warehouse keeps storage and underlying compute in your cloud or data platform account. ReportPlane uses a credential you provide to deliver and query data.

Supported adapters include BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch. The connection fields and supported structured types vary by adapter.

Choose it when:

• data must remain in your account;
• your team already operates a supported warehouse;
• you need direct warehouse access for additional workloads;
• your governance process requires ownership of storage and retention.

What remains the same#

The control-plane workflow does not change. You still create models, ingest clients, Analytics APIs, and query clients. ReportPlane still validates access and builds a warehouse-neutral analytics plan.

Before connecting a customer warehouse#

Prepare:

1. a supported warehouse or cluster;
2. a database, dataset, index, or equivalent destination location;
3. a least-privilege service credential;
4. network access from ReportPlane where required;
5. any location or region setting requested by the adapter.
