Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ReportPlane collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the ReportPlane website, dashboard, beta access flows, contact forms, newsletter forms, and related services.

ReportPlane is built for customer-facing analytics. Depending on how a customer deploys the product, ReportPlane may process account and operational data directly, and may also process analytics-related customer data in either a customer-owned warehouse environment or a ReportPlane-managed environment.

1. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Business contact information such as your name, work email address, company name, role, and any information you submit through contact, demo, or newsletter forms.
  • Account information such as login credentials, authentication events, workspace membership, user roles, and account preferences when you register for or use the dashboard.
  • Operational and usage information such as IP address, browser and device data, timestamps, referring pages, product interaction logs, usage counters, and security or audit events.
  • Configuration data you provide inside the product, including project names, schema definitions, analytics definitions, API key metadata, client metadata, destination metadata, and related administrative settings.
  • Customer data or analytics data processed through the service when you configure ReportPlane to ingest data, define analytics, run queries, or return analytics responses.

2. How we use information

We use information to operate, secure, improve, and support ReportPlane, including to:

  • provide the website, dashboard, onboarding flows, and requested product functionality;
  • authenticate users, enforce permissions, prevent abuse, and protect the service;
  • provision workspaces, projects, destinations, analytics APIs, and related configuration;
  • measure usage, apply plan limits, troubleshoot issues, and maintain service reliability;
  • respond to inquiries, send service communications, and provide customer support;
  • send product updates, beta announcements, and marketing communications where permitted by law or where you request them;
  • analyze service performance, improve product quality, and develop new features.

3. Product data and deployment models

ReportPlane supports multiple deployment and execution patterns, and privacy expectations may differ depending on the configuration you choose.

  • In a customer-owned warehouse model, analytics queries may run against infrastructure controlled by the customer or the customer's cloud environment.
  • In a ReportPlane-managed model, certain ingestion, storage, processing, or query execution activities may run on infrastructure operated for the ReportPlane service.
  • Customers control the schemas, analytics definitions, client credentials, bindings, and destinations they configure in the product.
  • Customers are responsible for ensuring they have the right to submit and process the data they send through ReportPlane.

4. Legal bases and customer instructions

Where applicable, we process personal information based on legitimate business interests, performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, consent, or customer instructions.

When ReportPlane processes customer data on behalf of a customer, that customer is generally the controller or business decision-maker for that data, and ReportPlane acts as a processor or service provider according to the applicable service relationship and product configuration.

5. Sharing of information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • with service providers that help us host, secure, monitor, support, email, or operate the website and product;
  • with customers and their authorized users as needed to provide workspace, analytics, and access-control functionality;
  • when required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
  • to enforce our terms, protect the service, investigate abuse, or address security incidents;
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality handling.

We do not sell personal information submitted through the ReportPlane website for unrelated third-party marketing use.

6. Cookies, analytics, and telemetry

We may use cookies, local storage, session tokens, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure sessions, understand website usage, and improve product performance.

We may also collect limited telemetry about feature usage, errors, and product performance. You can typically control browser-level cookie behavior through your browser settings, although some service features may not function correctly if essential cookies are disabled.

7. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security records, and support legitimate business operations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the deployment model, customer configuration, account status, and whether we are required to preserve records for security, billing, contractual, or legal reasons.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

No system can be guaranteed to be fully secure. Customers should use strong credentials, protect API keys and client secrets, review access permissions regularly, and configure their own data environments in a secure manner.

9. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the country where it was originally collected. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, update, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, or to request a copy of it.

If ReportPlane processes your information on behalf of a customer, you should usually direct your request to that customer first. For website or direct account requests, use the contact form on this website.

11. Children's privacy

ReportPlane is intended for business and professional use. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the service.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we may update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

13. Contact
